Hypnosis has been used for many, many years, in fact it’s use can be traced back to over 5000 years ago in Ancient Egypt to the sleep temples. Celebrities using hypnosis is also nothing new, Mozart was reportedly a fan!

In recent times, hypnosis has received much media attention and has been depicted as a form of entertainment and something to laugh about through its portrayal via Hollywood movies and various stage hypnotists. However, the use of hypnosis as an effective therapy is very different to what we have all seen on TV!

The good news is people’s views of hypnosis are starting to change!

Every year, many prestigious research insitutions are exploring and testing it’s many uses. Many people, including A-lister celebrities are also turning to hypnosis as a therapy to help them with anything from hypnobirthing to quitting smoking and self-improvement. These celebrities are also happy to share their success stories with how hypnosis has greatly improved their lives!

Kate Middleton- The Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly underwent hypnotherapy in order to help her treat her severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum)  which she suffered with when pregnant with all three of her children. She used hypnosis as a way to combat negative thoughts about food after she was admitted to hospital with the condition. She also learned hypnobirthing techniques prior to delivering her first baby and has since used the same techniques for her second and third child.

 

Miranda Kerr

Supermodel Miranda Kerr has been an outspoken advocate of hypnobirthing and has encouraged many friends to also try it. She learned hypnobirthing techniques prior to the birth of her first son. She reportedley said that the daily, relaxation breathing exercises and guided imagery she used while she was pregnant had a lot to do with the calm demeanor of her baby boy.

Jessica Alba

The actress and entrepreneur and also good friend of Miranda Kerr, said she utilised hypnobirthing techniques when having her daughters in 2008 and 2011. Alba described it as a sort-of guided meditation, which allowed her to stay relaxed and focus on her breathing during labour.

Mel B- Scary Spice

The former Spice Girl is no stranger to being in the limelight and is not the typical shy type. However, Mel B has actually battled with stage fright during her whole career. When launching her Vegas burlesque show in 2009, she was overcome with anxiety and turned to hypnosis as a way to tame her stage fright and prep her for the show.

Geri Halliwell

According to a number of sources, Ginger Spice, Geri used hypnosis for weight loss.

Orlando Bloom

As a young child, Bloom reportedly had a serious sweet tooth! His mom reached out to a hypnotherapist to help him overcome his chocolate addiction in to order help him get back into shape.

Sarah Ferguson

It is widely claimed that The Duchess of York has reportedly used hypnosis for weight loss and to prevent future weight gain. She has also reportedly used hypnosis to help combat other habits including nail-biting.

Adele

The talented British singer claims she used to smoke up to a pack of cigarettes per day. She reportedly became very conscious and worried about the long term impact on her throat and her health in general and she turned to hypnosis as a way to end her addiction. It is claimed that hypnotherapy stopped her smoking straight away, around the time her single ‘Hello’ was released.

Drew Barrymore

Barrymore was alledgedly a two-pack per day smoker for many years. She used hyponisis in order to stop smoking. She has been smoke-free since she tried hypnosis.

Matt Damon

The Oscar-winning actor credits hypnosis with helping him quit after 16 years as a heavy smoker. On The Tonight Show, Damon said it was the best choice he ever made and that “it works.”
